Torel Avantgarde
Named one of the sexiest restaurants in Porto!
This place was boujee with a capital B! When I was looking for hotels I came across this one and immediately fell in love with it! From the lobby area with flowered ceilings to the view by the pool, this place is drop dead gorgeous. Inspired by the Avantgarde period between 1930-1940s this hotel focuses on art and design. I also happened to get engaged at this wonderful view overlooking the Douro River, so of course it holds a special place in my heart!
Location & Price Point:
Located in the center of Porto, Portugal this is walkable to several restaurants and local attractions. Nestled between Clerigos Tower and Cristal Palace. This is walkable to Livrario Lello, Douro RIver, and Luis I Bridge. This place goes for $344/night but I looked it up today and it was going for $212/night. Definitely more pricier during the busier seasons and weekends.
Luxury Feel:
This hotel screams luxury as soon as you step foot in the hotel. When we arrived we were greeted by the front desk who was super friendly. The girl at the front desk was so sweet and gave us a tour of the hotel. She was super informative and helpful. They also offer a super cute coupon book upon arrival that features a welcome drink and discounts for the spa and restaurant. This place had just a lot of little touches that made it great. We booked this through Expedia and it came with a free bottle of champagne. Shortly after they brought our bags to our rooms, they brought a bottle of champagne as well! The bathroom amenities were Oliofora. They smelled super yummy and they offered conditioner, which was not an option at the other hotels we stayed at in Portugal.
The lobby and bar is just beautiful featuring flowered ceilings. This hotel also features two pools one indoor and outdoor. We didn’t get a chance to go to the spa due to our short stay but it looks glorious. .
Unique Experience :
The most unique part had to be the rooms. Each room was designed after a famous artist. Our room in particular was named after Jason Pollock. When you arrive to the room each artists name is on the door instead of room numbers. Each room is a little different, some with a balcony , bathtub in the room or suite and views of the stunning Douro River .
Food/Dining:
This hotel has its own restaurant on site named Digby. Digby is known for its meat dishes using only meat that is born and raised in Portugal. They also feature their executive menu featuring a starter, a main course, and dessert. Our stay also came with a buffet style breakfast. Let me tell you I could get used to this breakfast! They had a plethora of pastries, eggs, bacon, and a parfait making bar!
